It is the evening of the day ...{...}... I sit and watch as tears go by
Friday: needed to get out for a bit so I went to after Workaoke had a fun time. Went to the Portland Pub after but I have to admit by that time I was really just tired and needed sleep.
Saturday: what a day! Its funny how when you're really looking forward to seeing an event that has been in the making for a while and now this is the day and you get really excited and can hardly wait cause you know this is the only time you'll ever get to see it. Its hard to put into words how Mary and I were sooo wanting to see this ... when we arrived we sensed the excitement in the air, and to actually witness this moment in history...Wow! We were standing just a few rows from the front and I looked around and saw people of all ages smiling away. It was the first time I had been to an outdoor event like this and I was really glad I could attend.
There was really no waiting for food or to use the washrooms; the music was just as I remembered from my younger days and it was fun to dance away to many of the songs and to watch people as they sang along and you just knew there were special memories in the minds of everyone as they sang along and danced and for the younger ones a special time for them to look back upon as they go through life...but alas... I get way ahead of myself. Let me backtrack a little and mention the surroundings.
The lake in the background was simply beautiful and at front and center there were two towering evergreen trees side by side that as you looked up into the sky they seemed to grow together and become one. It happened over time and just seemed so natural. This was the very spot where Bob and Elaine exchanged their wedding vows! It was such a beautiful wedding! You could just feel the love they feel for each other and to see such happiness in their faces was simply beautiful. I'll never forget the image of Bob proposing to Elaine on stage at the Second Stage "Script Happens" event at the Mary H Oland Theatre in Market Square. I was just grinning ear to ear with happiness and at the wedding I did again. What was also such a wonderful sight to see(but not surprising because Bob is such a great guy) was how Elaine's grandchildren accepted Bob, and one child that held both their hands while they exchanged vows. For me that was a tremedously powerful symbol of the joining of two familys. (I even drifted momentarily thinking about John and Sabine's upcoming wedding and I saw the happiness on their faces, it was a very strong image! but how could I not think about John because if it weren't for him I would never have met Bob!)
Like I mentioned the reception was a lot of fun dancing, singing and I must say we enjoyed the wine!!!
Its nice how a wedding can take you back or get you thinking ahead as you look at your spouse and think of different times in your life that brought you such joy and happiness and to wonder whats ahead... but not to worry ... because you see the wonderful person you'll have by your side. I think Mary and I learned a little more about each other that evening and I feel even closer to her, because of that event... because of Bob and Elaine's wedding.
Cheers to Bob and Elaine!!!

I second that cheers.
But you were only thinking of me because I told you to stop smiling and to get into character.
BTW, if you want to raise a glass to Sabine and I, you can do it Saturday, Sept. 17. 9 a.m., your time.
Cheers,
John

Hey John! Its funny you mention the charactor prep because I had chuckled to myself as I remembered your exact words that brought me right back down and how immediate it was.
Re Sept 17, 9:00 am in my house we will have our coffee mugs and sippy cups high in the air in honour of your wonderful lifetime binding contractual agreement with Sabine.
